Las Vegas Common Pests
Preventive Pest Control offers industry-leading solutions for each of the common pests to the Las Vegas area:
One of the most problematic pests in Las Vegas and around the country is the German cockroach. German cockroaches infest the interior of homes usually starting in kitchens and bathrooms. The German cockroach carries more eggs per case than any other cockroach. Its young complete their growth in a shorter amount of time as well, which potentially makes them ready to reproduce sooner than any other species of cockroach. If sanitation is poor, German cockroaches can spread to all areas of the house.
Scorpions also are a common pest in the Las Vegas area. A scorpion’s sting can be dangerous, especially to babies or the elderly. Symptoms of a sting are immediate which include: numbness around the sting then spreading rapidly, weakness and even paralysis of the injured part, hyperactivity and anxiety, profuse salivation, dizziness, difficulty in speaking and swallowing, and respiratory distress. They live outside in wood piles, under mulch or rocks, at the base of palm trees and in cinder block walls. Scorpions can be difficult to get rid of because of their thick exoskeleton. They also don’t drag their bodies on the ground when they crawl and they don’t clean themselves like other insects do. Our superior products, however, will get the job done, guaranteed.
The black widow spider is one of the most common spiders found throughout the Las Vegas valley. The female black widow spider is the one most people can readily identify; it is black with a bulbous abdomen with a red hourglass shape on its underside. The female black widow is venomous and usually non aggressive unless protecting its eggs or provoked. The venom of a black widow spider is a neurotoxin. Some symptoms of a bite are local swelling, increased body temperature and blood pressure, profuse sweating and nausea. They commonly live under stones, pieces of wood, in firewood piles, under decks, also around barns, sheds and in meter/irrigation boxes. You can also easily find black widow spider webs around the foundation of your home or in your garage.
There are many different species of ants in the Las Vegas area that plague homeowners as one of the most annoying pests of the region. They often invade the interior of homes seeking food and water. There may be multiple nests, usually located underground. Ants can take over a home very quickly due to the high number of worker ants in these colonies. The best way to completely get rid of ants is to take out the nest which requires the use of baits and non-repellent sprays.
