SPIDERS IN HOUSTON
There are more than 30,000 different species of spiders found all over the world. Most are venomous, but only a handful are considered to be life-threatening. In Houston, two spiders are considered threats to people: the black widow spider and the brown recluse spider.
Both are capable of delivering potent venom that can be lethal to humans and even pets. The good thing is that these spiders don’t actively seek humans to bite; they only do so when cornered or threatened.
Common house spiders are also considered nuisance pests in Houston and all throughout the U.S. These spiders are not threatening, but they are annoying since they have a habit of building unsightly webs indoors.
